Martin Newson will take over as CEO, according to VT Carbon Partners. London will serve as his home base. With a 25-year history in global leadership positions at companies like Credit Suisse First Boston, Deutsche Bank, and Goldman Sachs, Newson, a former fund manager and investment banker, joins a strong team of carbon experts and prepares the ground for the implementation of VT Carbon Partners’ growth strategy.
VT Carbon Partners, a fund management joint venture between Viridios Capital and Tribeca Investment Partners, was established in 2021 to respond to the urgent demand from investors around the world for nature-friendly investment options in the carbon markets. It has since grown to become one of the biggest investors in global carbon markets.
“I am delighted to join VT Carbon Partners. The firm’s timely growth strategy answers the call of rising demand for specialist fund offerings from institutional investors and voluntary carbon markets continue to play a critical role in directing private finance towards climate mitigation and nature based projects,” says Newson.
The VT Carbon Fund, the first fund offered by VT Carbon Partners, was established in August 2021 and offers investors an actively managed and diversified exposure to high-quality credits. Since its inception, the fund has produced solid returns net of expenses. Early in 2023, the company will introduce other funds that will adopt a similar approach to the VT Carbon Fund in order to meet the growing demand from international institutional investors.
