Judy Garland’s daughter Lorna Luft meets up with famous perfumer, skincare innovator, and cosmetic chemist Vincenzo Spinnato in Liverpool on Tuesday. In order to create a fragrance in memory of their mother Judy Garland on the day that would have been Ms. Garland’s 100th birthday, Luft, her siblings Liza Minnelli and Joey Luft, as well as the Garland Heirs Trust, partnered with Spinnato.
Luft is currently performing on tour in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. The official presentation of the scent, known as ‘JUDY-A Garland Fragrance by Vincenzo Spinnato’, took place on June 10th, the actress Judy Garland’s birthday, at a special Hollywood Gala.
Judy Garland, a global icon, served as inspiration for the sophisticated, seductive, and updated unisex exquisite scent that makes the foundation for the new perfume. Spinnato intends to visit and meet with distributors and stores in England while in the UK.
With the addition of Dark Orchid, Coriander, and a blend of seductive Gourmand and spice notes, the scent hints at the Judy Garland Rose. The notes of velvety musk and patchouli wood are balanced by the lingering sweetness of tonka bean, bourbon vanilla, and caramel. The outcome is a scent that is gender-neutral and inclusive and also honours Ms. Garland’s activism for the LGBTQ community and the Civil Rights movement.
